Cherilynn came into this world with an artist’s soul. Driven to create, she began drawing before she could walk, and her artistic gifts were evident from a young age. She pursued her passion for art into college, graduating with an Art degree, and then struggled to figure out how to use her talents for good in the world.

She went on to study Scientific Illustration, then completed a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy. After working as an art therapist and chemical dependency counselor, Cheri left the work world to become a full time mother.

Cheri is passionate about helping people awaken to their power to create lives of meaning, connection, and joy. As her daughter is growing up, Cheri is able to devote more time to her community. In recent years she has taught private art lessons, art classes for kids, and painting workshops for adults. She now teaches yoga and Inferno Hot Pilates, following her spiritual path to guide people towards an awareness of the strength of their minds through the discipline of movement and conditioning of their bodies. Using our bodies to train our minds allows us more easily to be conscious and present in the moment, no matter what that moment may be.

When Cheri first heard about The Yellow Room, she knew it was something she wanted to be a part of, and she is thrilled to be of service as a board member. One of Cheri’s favorite quotes, something she tries to embody daily, from the French filmmaker Robert Bresson, is, “Make visible what, without you, might perhaps never have been seen.” She hopes to apply her visionary skills to help foster the success of this space for growth and healing, allowing people to reach for their best selves and embrace their gifts of creation in their own lives.

Cheri lives in her dream house, which she designed, with her husband, daughter, and 2 cats in Cocolalla.
